About the Book: There was trouble in the hen house, and let me tell you why... When Ellie May, Audrey and Daisy can no longer stand the hot summer days that are cooking their eggs before they're even laid, Farmer John has to come up with an inventive solution... A fun rhyming story about farm life in the Australian summer and some very determined chickens. Recommended for readers 3 to 7 years old.
About the Author: Susan O'Meara grew up in North East Victoria before heading to Melbourne for University. She is a qualified teacher, who taught students of all ages before joining the federal Public Service as a grant design lead. She has three children, an elderly dog called Harry, and will become a grandparent for the first time later this year. Susan currently lives in Canberra in a home backing onto the bush, which gives her the perfect mix between country and city life. Her collection of picture books is extensive, and she will read them to anyone who lets her.
About the Illustrator:
Yvonne Mes is a children’s author and illustrator living in Australia. She is a multimedia artist who loves experimenting with various traditional artistic media as well as digital art. Trouble in the Hen House is her debut as an illustrator. She is the author of Little Bilby’s Aussie Bush Christmas, Little Bilby’s Aussie Easter Egg Hunt (both with Hachette Australia), Meet Sidney Nolan (Penguin Random House), Oliver’s Grumbles (Yellow Brick Books) and more. She coordinates Brisbane-based children’s book authors and illustrators group, Write Links. She buys more books than she can read, comes up with more ideas than she can write or illustrate and has more children than she can manage. But she tries very hard, and best of all, she is NEVER bored.
