Picture Book & MG Giveaways
We are excited to host a giveaway of the picture book Over, Bear! Under, Where? by Julie Hedlund, illustrated by Michael Slack (Philomel 2021), coming out Nov. 9. Be sure to enter in the Rafflecopter below!
A clever story of wordplay and unexpected friendship, perfect for fans of 7 Ate 9 and Eats, Shoots, and Leaves.
Over and Under are friends enjoying a day at the park. They go on the swings (Over goes over Under) and the seesaw (Under is under Over). They meet a hot-dog dog (who joins them for a hot dog). And then they spot . . . a bear! (Unbearable!) But is he really the scary creature they assume he is? Join these pals as they discover that friendship underpins all.
About the Author: Julie Hedlund is an award-winning children's book author. Her titles include Over, Bear! Under, Where? (Philomel, 2021), My Love For You is the Sun (2014) and A Troop is a Group of Monkeys (2013), both published by Little Bahalia Publishing.
Julie is also the founder of the 12 x 12 Picture Book Writing Challenge, which boasts more than 1,700 members. She is a co-founder of Picture Book Summit, an annual online conference, and the co-creator (with Emma Walton Hamilton) of The Complete Picture Book Submissions System. You can find her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
About the Illustrator: Michael Slack is the super serious author-illustrator of many children’s books and other cool stuff for kids and adults. Contemporary art, animation, and modernist design inform his style, but it is humor, playfulness, and a love of quirky characters that are the heart of his illustration. When he is not working on book projects Michael like to paint, draw, and dabble in electronic music. Recently he's been enjoying making ceramic art figures. You can find him on Instagram and Twitter.
We are pleased to host the giveaway of the middle grade book, Sydney A. Frankel's Summer Mix-Up by Danielle Joseph (Kar-ben/ Lerner Publications), out on Nov. 1. Enter the giveaway in the Rafflecopter below.
About the Book: Sydney Frankel, soon to be a sixth-grader, is looking forward to a summer of fun with her best friend, Maggie. She figures she deserves some time to herself to do what she wants before her mom delivers Sydney's new sibling in just four months. Too bad Sydney's mom has other plans for her. Sydney's forced to take a summer course at the South Miami Community Center. She's allowed to take any class, except for what she really wants--a reading course. But when Maggie comes up with a switcheroo plan so that they can both take the classes they like, unexpected complications arise.
About the Author: Danielle Joseph was born in Cape Town, South Africa. The author of several young adult novels and picture books, she lives in Maryland with her husband, three kids, and a dog named Ringo. When not writing, she’s swimming, listening to music, or chasing after her dog!
