I have always enjoyed creating and drawing, right from a young age. It started when I was around 6 or 7 years old, when I would make picture books for my younger brother. I knew when I got to high school that I wished to have a career in art, but it took until university for me to come right back around to picture books! After graduation I began illustrating for children's magazines, which I thoroughly enjoyed - though that dream of illustrating books was always there. When my two children were born, I could appreciate the importance of picture books from their perspective. It is from looking at how they respond to different books that helps me when illustrating a manuscript. When I started illustrating my first book with a publisher, Chicken Coop Chaos, I knew that I wanted to include a mouse on each page for children to find, as they so enjoy noticing the small details! Watching my children enjoy the books that I have illustrated is a dream come true.

Congrats on your website banner design for KidLit411! How did you approach this project?
I wanted to include the birds on a wire theme that KidLit411 began with, but with a strong book theme - and so the bookshop idea was born! I wanted to make the shop inviting, which is why the door is left open to welcome visitors onto your site. The birds themselves echo that character that I like to bring to my book illustrations, with one hanging upside-down while another bird points - it brings a little extra detail to notice.

Congrats on your book, Cowboy Cam! Tell us about it.
Thank you! Cowboy Cam was published in the UK in January of this year, and is about a boy and his cousin, Poppy, on their own cheeky adventure at their grandparents' house. They get into trouble stealing items from their grandparents in an attempt to make Cam look like a cowboy, with some chaotic pugs to help them out! This book was a great joy to illustrate as the story - written by the brilliant William Russell - is full of so much fun, love and laughter! I could really play around with the pug characters, as they are not mentioned in the text more than once, allowing me to put them in all sorts of silly situations throughout the book. I hope that children will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed illustrating it!

What projects are you working on now?
I have just finished illustrating two books, Unicorns Do NOT Exist. Yes They Do! which will be published on 5th May 2025, and Chooky's Salon which will be published later on this year, though no date for this one has been announced yet!

Right now though I'm working on two new picture books, both due to be published in Summer 2026. One is a beautiful tale about being yourself, and the other is about feelings and the realisation that we all have worries. Both are very important emotions, and ones that I'm sure a lot of children can relate to. I'm very much looking forward to seeing these as finished books!

I also have a card shop on Thortful, so staying up to date with this on top of my other projects certainly keeps me busy!
When I was pregnant with my two daughters, instead of cravings I had aversions! I couldn't stand even the thought of cheesecake when pregnant with my eldest (usually LOVE it), and with my youngest it was anything with warm milk (goodbye tea and hot chocolate). Thankfully this went away a little while after they were born, and I'm now back to my cake-gorging, tea-drinking self.
